Finalize the setup of your vaylensPay payment terminal

How to locally configure a vaylensPay payment terminal

Please make sure to have completed all steps described in How to onboard a vaylensPay payment terminal before proceeding.

Before your vaylensPay payment terminal can begin processing payments, a final local configuration is required. While the initial setup was completed in the vaylens portal (How to onboard a vaylensPay payment terminal), the device must now be configured directly on-site, on the physical terminal itself.

To proceed, a technician or staff member will need to access the terminal and follow the steps provided below. vaylens will supply you with the necessary login credentials to access the vaylensPay terminal. Please ensure these credentials are shared with the colleague or technician responsible for performing the local configuration.

Local configuration

Start the vaylensPay payment terminal and log in with the credentials provided by vaylens. If needed, select another language for the setup in the top right corner.

In the next step, select a payment terminal configuration that was previously created in the vaylens portal. Linking the payment terminal configuration to the terminal transfers all the necessary details, including charge points, texts, and branding. To complete the linking process, simply choose the appropriate configuration from the list. You can select multiple configurations.

The next step takes you to the Service menu, where you'll find four options for further configuring the payment terminal. Each option allows you to tailor the terminal's functionality.

Test charge ports: Enter the customer view while still being in service mode and test relevant functionalities.

Rename charge ports: Custom charge point names can be assigned, which are visible to the EV driver during selection. The goal is to provide names that are easier to remember than the often technical ones typically assigned by operators in the vaylens portal, such as sequential numbering based on their arrangement or similar conventions.

Reset configuration: Select a different payment terminal configuration including other charge points, texts and branding.

Start customer view: Switch to the EV driver mode.

If you confirm to start the customer view, the setup will be completed and you exit the service mode. EV drivers can use it to start charging sessions at the charge points that are connected to vaylensPay and pay for their sessions.

When you return to the vaylens Portal and navigate to Manage > Payment Terminal > vaylensPay, you can see that your vaylensPay payment terminal has now been successfully linked to a hardware device.
