vaylensPay for EV drivers

How EV drivers can use the vaylensPay payment terminal to carry out card payments at selected chargers

vaylensPay is a standalone payment terminal that allows card payment for charging sessions carried out at connected chargers.

When accessing the vaylensPay payment terminal, the EV driver begins at the welcome screen. From here, the user can select their preferred language by clicking the flag icon in the top-right corner. Additionally, the vaylens Privacy Policy as well as Terms and conditions are accessible from this screen.

To start or stop a charging session, the user can click Choose Charge Port to begin selecting a charge point.

On the appearing screen, all charge points linked to the selected payment terminal configuration are displayed. This list provides the EV driver with the charge point name, the corresponding tariff, and the current charge point status.

When the car is already plugged in to the charger, it will automatically appear at the top of the list of chargers for quick access. Chargers with the status Status unknown can be selected for charging but it is unclear if it will be successful, due to the unknown status. Chargers with the status Out of service cannot be used. Please contact the displayed service hotline on the charger for further investigation.

Starting a charging session

Clicking on a charge point will take the EV driver to the next step. If the vehicle is not yet connected to the selected charge point, the EV driver will be asked to connect it.

Next, the EV driver can choose to receive a digital charging receipt for the charging session by entering an email address and clicking Confirm. If no email address is entered, clicking I don't need a receipt will skip the receipt creation and delivery.

All receipts, regardless of whether an email address was entered or not, can be accessed and downloaded via www.ev-beleg.com or www.ev-receipt.com.

The Order overview displays a summary of the charging session details, including the pre-authorization amount, charge point name, charging price and whether the EV driver opted to receive a receipt.

Ticking the checkbox I have read and agree to the terms and conditions allows the EV driver to proceed with clicking Pay and start charging.

The next step is the payment process. The user is guided to present their card and, if required, enter their PIN—following the standard procedure for card payments.

vaylensPay supports the following payment methods: Mastercard, Visa, vPay, Google Pay, Apple Pay, GiroCard.

Upon successful payment, the user receives confirmation of the successful start of the charging session. Finish completes the process and takes the user back to the welcome screen.

In the event of an error, a corresponding error message with charging session details are displayed to the EV driver. Go back takes the user back to the welcome screen. Try again sends a new payment request allowing the user to present a different card if desired.

Stopping a charging session

The charging session can simply be stopped by ending the session either in the car and unplugging the cable from the car or at the vaylensPay terminal. To stop a charging session via vaylensPay, the occupied charge point needs to be selected from the list of charge points.

If the EV driver did not enter an email address when he started the session, he/she can now choose to receive a digital charging receipt for the charging session by entering an email address and clicking Confirm. If no email address is entered, clicking I don't need a receipt will skip the receipt creation and delivery.

To prevent misuse, the user needs to authenticate by presenting the same card used to start the charging session. Clicking Stop charging starts the authorization process. The user is guided to present their card and, if required, enter their PIN. Upon successful authorization, the user is redirected to the payment terminal interface and receives confirmation that the charging session has been successfully stopped. Confirm completes the process and takes the user back to the welcome screen.

In the event of an error, a corresponding error message with charging session details are displayed to the EV driver. Go back takes the user back to the welcome screen. Try again sends a new authorization request allowing the user to present a different card if desired.
