Charging Station Connectivity Tester and Claiming Code

How the Charging Station Connectivity Tester can help you connect a charger to vaylens

What is the Charging Station Connectivity Tester?

The Charging Station Connectivity Tester (SCT) is a useful tool for installers and technicians configuring chargers or wallboxes for vaylens. For optimum functionality of your charging infrastructure, the configuration of the charger on site must fit the settings in vaylens portal. With the SCT, you can verify the on-site configuration of the charger/wallbox to ensure that all settings were successfully made and the charger can communicate with vaylens.

The SCT checks if a connection attempt between charger and vaylens takes place. The Chargebox ID is used as the identifier here.

Only OCPP 1.6 connections can be checked with the SCT.

After successful check, the SCT provides a claiming code that helps to set up the charger in vaylens portal. The claiming code can be entered during onboarding process and replaces the need to remember and copy the Chargebox ID and HTTP Basic Password that have been used for on-site configuration.

Detailed information on where to use the claiming code in Getting started: Basics in onboarding your first charger.

How to use the Charging Station Connectivity Tester?

  1. Install the charger/wallbox on site and ensure that your OCPP charger is locally configured for vaylens backend by entering the vaylens Backend URL:
    wss://prod.services-emobility.com/device/ocpp16

  2. Open the SCT Website on your Smartphone or Laptop: https://connectiontest.services-emobility.com/

    tester-02

  3. Enter the same Chargebox ID and HTTP Basic Password that you have already set on the charger/wallbox configuration:

  4. Check the configuration:
Click Check to initiate the connection test and get the result.

  5. Claim the code:
If the connection attempt takes place, a claiming code is provided which can be used to simplify the creation of a charger/wallbox in vaylens portal. Communicate the claiming code to the person onboarding the charger/wallbox to vaylens.

How to interpret the results?

A connection attempt can have one of the following results:

Result: Successful

Confirms a successful connection attempt. You will have the option to generate a PDF with the claiming code, which is used to create the OCPP charger in vaylens portal.

Result: The entered chargebox ID is already associated with another station

Alerts that the Chargebox ID is already in use by another charger in vaylens. A new free Chargebox ID is generated for your use.

Result: Error- No connection attempt detected or incorrect password!

There was no connection attempt because of either bad network quality or an incorrect Chargebox ID or password. This error message might also be caused by a misconfigured backend URL. Please check our input and try again.

Result: This OCPP Chargebox ID has already been successfully tested

Indicates a successful connection between the charger and vaylens because the charger is already connected. Please use another Chargebox ID.

Result: Warning - Invalid Chargebox ID is used

Alerts that the provided Chargebox ID contains invalid characters or blank spaces. Check the Chargebox ID and try again.

Result: The number of maximum requests per time period has been reached

There is a maximum number of requests per time period that has been reached for the Check button now. Wait a few minutes before attempting the check again.
